CHARLESTON, SC—(October 10, 2015) 1,437 homes sold in September in the region at a median price of $233,545 according to preliminary data released today by the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors® (CTAR). In September 2014, 1,311 homes sold in the region at a median price of $213,722.

Year-to-date data shows that sales volume is 16% ahead of where it was in 2014, and median price has increased by 3% in the region. Thus far in 2015, 12,440 homes have sold at a median price of $221,000. Through September 2014, 10,720 homes had sold at a median price of $215,000.

There are 5,761 homes listed as “active” for sale in the Charleston Trident Multiple Listing Service (CTMLS), about 10% fewer than this time last year.

“We are heading into the fall season, with very strong market activity” said 2015 CTAR President Matt DeAntonio. “Buyers are still very active in the Charleston region, which isn’t always typical this time of year” he said. “With this ongoing interest and activity, we expect sales to surpass 2014 by at least 15%, and regionally, prices should continue to grow at a steady but sustainable pace” he concluded.

Much of the CTAR’s focus this month has been on supporting communities around the state who were affected by the devastating flooding. On Friday, the CTAR Board of Directors voted to contribute $20,000 to the Realtor® Relief Foundation. The funds will go to support those who have been affected by the SC Floods. The Board also approved a $5,000 donation to the local Salvation Army. “It is crucial that we come together and support our neighbors, communities and those in need across our state” said DeAntonio.
